Summary

In the luscious, dark sequel to One Dark Window, Elspeth must face the consequences of what she's wrought - perfect for readers of Hannah Whitten's For the Wolf and Alexis Henderson's The Year of the Witching。

Elspeth and Ravyn have gathered most of the twelve Providence Cards, but the last, and most important one remains to be found: The Twin Alders。

If they are going to find it before the Solstice and cure the kingdom of the dark magic infecting it, they will need to journey beyond the dangerous mist-cloaked forest that surrounds their kingdom。

And the only one who can lead them there is the monster that shares Elspeth's head。 The Nightmare。 And he's not eager to share any longer。

It is so rare to have a series/duology where the AMAZING first book is followed up with a second book that is just as good。 This was freaking awesome。 Elm's side story was so heartbreaking。 I really connected to the characters。 Even the Shepherd King。 I absolutely recommend this duology for people who enjoy a great fantasy romance with an interesting, unique magic system。 Bravo to the author for hitting this out of the park again。 It is so rare to have a series/duology where the AMAZING first book is followed up with a second book that is just as good。 This was freaking awesome。 Elm's side story was so heartbreaking。 I really connected to the characters。 Even the Shepherd King。 I absolutely recommend this duology for people who enjoy a great fantasy romance with an interesting, unique magic system。 Bravo to the author for hitting this out of the park again。 。。。more

Phenomenal。 This series deserves a million stars, I’m obsessed。 Elm Rowan, wow what a man。 This man could do no wrong。 He has my whole heart。 This series was done so so well, like I can’t get over how good it was。 ‘“You’re beautiful。” “No。 That word is only for you”’

4。5 stars! Once again, Rachel Gillig delivers a stunning conclusion to The Shepherd King series。 To say I wish the series could continue would be an understatement, my desire for more is undeniable。 The additional romantic element only fueled my intrigue and witnessing the independent growth and collective healing of these characters was a beautiful experience。 The seamless handling of multiple points of view kept me eagerly immersed, simultaneously navigating both paths。 This series holds immen 4。5 stars! I enjoyed the first book so much that I preordered the sequel。 “Two Twisted Crowns” is so boring。 I’m not even sure I’ll pick it back up to finish it。 I don’t care about these characters。 I’m not sure if I’ve been zoning out while reading it or if the writing is really that sparse that I literally don’t understand how some scenes play out。 What a letdown。

4。5 stars- loved the second book in this duology。 Rachel Gillig had a whimsical way with words that sweeps you off into a magical land and holds your attention the entire time。 Only reason it’s not quite a 5 star read for me is I wish that there was more time spent on the ending- would’ve loved to see how events unfolded directly after the final scene! Fantastic read overal

Devastated that it’s over。 Loved every minute of it 😭

In my opinion two Twisted Crowns was an amazing conclusion to this duology。 The author wrapped up everything nicely, and I was left satisfied with a tear in my eye。 Loved the characters and Elms Pov。 Wonderfully done 👏

Title: Two Twisted CrownsAuthor: Rachel GilligGenre: Fiction, Romance, Fantasy, Fantasy Romance, RomantasyRating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I was so excited to get this book! I loved the first book, One Dark Window, so much and knew I had to finish the story of Elspeth and Rayvn。This story is so unique and magical。 We finally get the back story of how the Providence cards were created as well as where the Nightmare came from and who he was before。 We also get some new perspectives throughout the story with Elm’s Title: Two Twisted CrownsAuthor: Rachel GilligGenre: Fiction, Romance, Fantasy, Fantasy Romance, RomantasyRating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I was so excited to get this book! I loved the first book, One Dark Window, so much and knew I had to finish the story of Elspeth and Rayvn。This story is so unique and magical。 We finally get the back story of how the Providence cards were created as well as where the Nightmare came from and who he was before。 We also get some new perspectives throughout the story with Elm’s point of view being the biggest (and best) addition! Once I hit the 30% read mark I began LIVING for the Elm chapters。 His story was reminiscent of Cardan (The Cruel Prince) and I just devoured his chapters。I think my favorite part of the story (besides Elm, of course) was how Elspeth and the Nightmare’s relationship changed。 It obviously had to develop past where it was in One Dark Window and I found it moved from loathsome to almost a mutual respect and admiration, both characters gaining a better understanding of the other。 I also liked how it changed slowly over time。 It wasn't abrupt, instead, each person had to prove they deserved the respect from the other。A few reason it wasn’t five stars for me:I needed more Elspeth and Ravyn。 I know why the story had to develop past their points of view, but I fell in love with them in the first book and I wanted more。 It took me a while to get into this story。 I felt that while it started immediately after the first book ended, it started slow。 I would pick it up, read a few chapters, and then put it down and get a different book。 Once the story line really picked up, I couldn’t put it down, but it took a while to get there。Last (and this totally on me) I read One Dark Window in April and, of course, forgot so many things about the book。 I totally should have done a reread before diving in, at least of the last couple of chapters so I could get my brain in gear。All in all, a wonderful read and the epilogue was the perfect way to end the duology。 A very special thank you to NetGalley and Orbit books for an ARC in exchange for my honest review。 。。。more

AMAZING。 I am speechless。 If I could give this book 6 stars I would。 I cried。 I squirmed in my seat。 I couldn’t put this book down。 The writing was perfection。 This book is Just。 Brilliant。

⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟✨(3。75)/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️(4。0) A great sequel which sadly felt disconnected to its main character。 I was significantly more interested in Elm’s and Ione’s story than in Elspeth’s, the Nightmare’s and Ravyn’s story…。aka the main plot of the book。 I also feel like it is utterly necessary to either reread or first time read One Dark Window right before picking this one up, to properly understand it, as I was rather struggling to remember who was who and who they were as characters。

5⭐️This was a haunting, gothic, romantic and incredible read。 I absolutely loved this duology!!! Rachel did an amazing job and building on the storyline for the secondary characters and I loved it soooo much。 🖤 I was concerned that since it was a duology, we would miss out on “something” because I simply couldn’t grasp how she would be able to wrap it up in one book, but she did it, and she did it amazingly。 The riddles, the plot, the friendships and romance, the way it all came together was not 5⭐️This was a haunting, gothic, romantic and incredible read。 I absolutely loved this duology!!! it’s really difficult for me to love a sequel more than the original… but this did it for me。 Dark, yet hopeful。 Fantastic character development and a plot that keeps you intrigued till the very end。 10/10 would recommend

I’m disappointed I loved the first book but this one didn’t excite me。 I was very bored and lost interest in the story。 I think the first book should of been a stand alone

Genuinely loved the series Do you want to read like you’re 13 and have no responsibilities? Read this duo。 Magic mist, magic cards, romance? Need any more convincing? You should not。 I loved the writing and the deep story telling。 The world grabs you immediately and sucks you in。 Characters had depth, flaws and personality to them。 The first book sets the scene and pulls you into the world。 Two Twisted Crowns keeps the story going and adds a depth to it, while taking a surprising New Romantic di Genuinely loved the series Do you want to read like you’re 13 and have no responsibilities? This was a bit slower then the first book but at the same time it was everything I wanted it to be。 And I love that Elm got his own voice in this one💘

Loved it! Kept me on the edge of my seat but I really wanted to read more about Elspeth and Ravyn after everything, I needed more from their story。

The perfect sequel, so happy it lived up to the hype and I was just as obsessed as I was with One Dark Window! It was just the perfect gothic magical fantasy - definitely one of my favourite series to date 🖤

Leonor Cício

I liked the One Dark Window better; nevertheless, it was a good book and most of all a good duology。

I binged this book in less that 24 hours。 Giligs writing reads like a poem, or a only Tim Burton storytime, or a play so thoughtfully constructed。 I am enthralled by this duology。 With less than 1000 pages total this duology made me feel more than some 15 book fantasy worlds I've read! I will read this book annually and I feel as though it will be the first time I have ever read it!
